<div>Our fabulous roommate, Jamie, is running off to fill her head with science. As a result, her room is opening up here at the Riverton house June 1st.

Starchy's old room has already been filled by an awesome person named Matt -- who some of you have already met. We're hoping to be equally successful in finding another roommate for Jamie's room.

Room for Rent in a Gorgeous House with Great Housemates

One of the our fabulous housemates is moving out, which means that we are looking for a new housemate to move in June 1st! Could it be you?

US:
There are three of us, a male &amp; female couple occupying two of the rooms and another male roommate in a third downstairs bedroom. It's a great fun and inspiring group of people to live with. We all have fairly multifaceted lives and are no particular order: artists, bikers, crafters, designers, gamers, geeks, kickboxers, musicians, pranksters, programmers, psychologists, skeptics, and students.

YOU:
    * are social, yet cherish the ability to come home to welcoming relaxed environment.
    * actively engage your creativity, and incorporate your passions into your life.
    * strive to encourage an atmosphere of responsibility, respect, compassion, and open communication.
    * work towards your own personal growth, improvement, and fulfillment.
    * appreciate living in a clean &amp; organized home, yet also enjoy the periodic chaos of creative projects.

HOUSE STATS:
    * Location: Merced/Parkside/West Portal/Sunset - Riverton @ Sloat http://tinyurl.com/2ksc27
    * Clean &amp; organized 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house
    * Large SUNNY living room and dining room (hardwood floors! fireplace!)
    * Spacious kitchen with gas stove and dishwasher
    * Downstairs laundry room (washer/dryer), workshop, and garage (yay storage!)
    * Cute manicured backyard with flowers and a lemon tree! (grill too!)
    * Internet, WiFi, and Airtunes enabled (and Cable TV happily disabled)
    * Two adorable hairless cats (allergen-free as long as you don't rub your eyeball directly on their skin)
      ...sorry no additional non-caged pets allowed
    * No smoking indoors (the atrium is fine)
    * Ample street parking (in a safe neighborhood)
    * 2 min walk to grocery store, coffee shop, cheap thai food, etc.
    * Very close to SFSU, Lake Merced Park, and Stern Grove Park

ROOM STATS:
    * The room measures 11.5' x 12.5'
    * Located upstairs in the back of the house
    * Westward facing windows look out to the backyard and towards the ocean (lovely sunsets!)
    * 4.5' size closet with built-in shelving
    * Separate (semi-shared) full bathroom with skylight
    * Hardwood floor

Room available to move in June 1st. Rent is $675 per month + your share of the utilities (PG&amp;E, water/sewage, garbage, phone/DSL, monthly gardener visit). With the changing of the seasons and occupants, it is hard to give a solid estimate of the utilities, but you should probably expect around $100 plus an extra $40 bimonthly for water. Although the full bathroom is a shared one, the other occupied rooms have their own private bathrooms, so you don't have to worry about it being used very often.

If this interests you, please contact us letting us know who you are, and we will set up a time to show off the house and meet everyone. For those who do not have our contact info, you can contact us at riverton@catcubed.com

If you have friends you recommend, please feel free to copy/paste and send it on to them or just send them a link to this page at http://icanhaz.com/riverton-hauz. However please DO NOT mass email or post this to any mailing lists or tribe or elsewhere without checking with us first.</div>

Early Ride to the Playa? Aug 19 or 20

<div>Now that *I* have a ride (yay!!!!), I'd like to focus a little energy towards others who also need help! So here's a public service announcement for a friend:

A friend of mine from Muay Thai, Tyson, is seeking an *early* ride to the playa. He's hoping to head up Sunday or Monday, August 19 or 20. (He'd like to make it earlier, but he's got a big fight on the 18th. If you have the time, I highly recommend checking it out in SF-- http://www.borntofight.com )

Anyways, he's good peeps, and would be excellent company, I'm sure.

Lemme know if you have room and I will connect you!

Tnx!

    </a>
										<div>I'm putting out a desperate callout for a vehicle! Do you have a car/truck/van that Slim &amp; I can borrow from August 16th through September 3rd or so?

Slim &amp; I are heading up for Man Krew early, and a rental is out of the question. (We can't afford a rental car for that huge period of time, and it's looking sketchy as to whether we can get our motorcycles ready for the playa in time.):

Just so youz knowz...... I have been a *very* good borrower in years past. In fact, last time the car came back *completely* dust free, filled up with gas of course, and I fixed the stereo. (And, I have insurance!)

PeeEss-- Said vehicle does not need to be purty, just reliable to get to the playa &amp; back.

hopes &amp; kisses,

										<div>Going to the desert for the 4th?

I'm looking to share my ride with folks to BRC this coming week for "Fourth of Juplaya". I'm heading up Wednesday, June 27th, and heading back anywhere from Monday, July 2nd to Wednesday, July 4th. (At this time, I don't know the exact date because it all depends on who's there and when other folks are leaving.)

I'd very much enjoy having the company of friends on the ride there &amp; back.... and I will gladly accept any offer to chip-in for rental costs for the vehicle, or gas, or something like that.

So, would you like to travel with me???? :)

http://nifnaks.catcubed.com/

Recently while working in fiber arts I discovered how much better wool extensions can be than synthetic dreads. Now I’m excited about bringing this fun hair to you! (Sample photos of hairstyles featuring wool extensions can be emailed to you upon request. Contact me at NifNaks@gmail.com)

Product Details and FAQ

I will make custom wool dreadlocks to your specifications. Most people prefer double-ended dreads, but single dreads (looped on the ends) are available upon request.

Double-ended dreads are essentially 2 dreadlocks in one, so only half the number of dreads need to be attached for double the volume! Stunning!

Do you offer synthetic dreads?

Although I have extensive experience designing and creating synthetic dreadlocks, I am not currently offering them for sale. I have been known to make exceptions, so if you have a special request, please contact me. Do note however that synthetic dreads are typically more expensive than wool dreads.

Why are wool dreads superior to synthetic?

There are numerous reasons why most people prefer wool dreadlocks.

Light as Air! Unlike synthetic dreads, wool dreads are very light and comfortable to wear. Because of their light weight, they will not pull on your scalp like synthetic fibers.

Temperature Regulation &amp; Breathability! Wool has insulating properties, so it will keep your head warm on cold evening. However, because it is a natural fiber, it will also allow your head to breath on a scorching August day so you can explore the desert with ease and comfort.

Fire Resistant! Wool is fire resistant, and therefore makes an excellent choice for fire performers or anyone getting close to heat &amp; flames.

Extra benefits of Merino Wool:

Merino wool distinguishes itself from synthetic fiber by offering moisture control and inherent anti-microbial properties. Unlike "traditional" wool, Merino is much finer, softer, and, best of all, itch-free (with exceptions with severe sensitivities or lanolin allergies).

Can I install your dreads myself?

Yes! My dreadlocks are simple to install with basic braiding knowledge. Solo installation is possible, although the process will typically go much faster with a friend to help out.

Do you offer installation services?

Yes, for an additional fee I will be happy to install you new dreads for you. Note that installation appointments are limited, so schedule yours promptly if you think you will need one.

I want fabulous hair! How do I get started?

Email me at NifNaks@gmail.com, and we can talk about how to get that head of hair you always dreamed of!</div>

    </a>
										<div>YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

I am now a proud owner of a 2000 Buell Blast! Slim helped me through the whole purchasing process (especially test driving it because I'm way too new of a driver to not only not know what to look for, but I lack even the driving skills to take it for a spin, HA!).

The bike is a 500cc, single cylinder thumper and makes the most lovely deep &amp; rich throaty THUB! It has a very low seat and is uber light, no chances of me having too much weight on my hands. It's clean, in good condition, and only has 7,600 miles on it.

Although it is currently red, I will very, very soon, paint it black (flat i suppose). It will look something like the photo above (minus the logo &amp; the shine).

Cute, huh?????

Next Actions:
+ go to the DMV to get it registered
+ put new tires on it
+ buy insurance
+ get happy reflective tape for my helmet &amp; other gear
+ paint it and add my own personal touch to it (hrmmmm, what to do, what to do.......)
+ figure out where I'm going to park it in my hood
+ get good pants &amp; jacket when I have the dough
+ practice somewhere safe in the city</div>

    </a>
										<div>YAY!!!!! I passed my motorcycle training class this weekend! Believe it or not, I really didn't think I was going to make it after the first day out on the range. The "teachers" were uber mean and barked at everyone. They're method of teaching people was to belittle them and embarrass them in front of everyone else if you made any mistakes. In fact, on the last exercise of the day on Saturday, I wound up getting more and more flustered and ended up not doing the exercise right once. I ended up crying all the way home on BART. Thus, it was very hard for me to get psyched up for the Crackistan 2nd Anniversary Party. Thankfully, I got lots of love and support from Aa &amp; Col, and soon I was looking forward to the advancing evening with enthusiasm.

I myself had hordes of fun at party. Arriving just at the up-swing of the party, Crack Houses for Humanity began construction of a crack house for the citizens of Crackistan. It was kinda neat to see the whole thing come together within a matter of hours.... We prefabbed some things like the frames for the walls, but I honestly didn't think it'd be as easy as it ended up being. Headlouse documented it on the official Crack Houses for Humanity (tm) website: http://crackhouse.catcubed.com/ Much rable-rousing was had, however I couldn't stay in Crackistan until the wee hours of the night (waaaaah), for I had my motorcycle class in the morning.

Out of the kindness of raindrift's heart, Colin was able to drive me to my second motorcycle ranged course/test. My ride to class was an excellent way to start the day (in comparison to the previous day in which I biked uphill for like 15 minutes and wound up sweaty and dehydrated before my awful class where I got yelled at all day). Buuuuuuut, Sunday one of the meanest of the teachers wasn't there, and as a replacement, I got this VERY nice guy who kept telling all of us to "relax and just have fun". Every time I messed up, he told me what I did right first, and then would say "what you might want to try next time is..." OMG, the experience was soooooo rewarding. I had FUN. And, I passed!!!!

Now I have to just wait for my certificate so I can schedule an appointment at the DMV and take the test. I can't wait to get all these little details squared away...... like buying a bike!

(commence drumming of fingers)

										<div>Can any one please, please, pleeeease give me a lift to my motorcycle class this Thursday night? I need to get to my class in South San Francisco by 5:40 and I will be done at 10:15.

I'm hoping some awesome person can either hook me up with a ride to the class (by 5:40), from the class (after 10:15), ooooor even take me there and back if for some strange reason this fits into your schedule.

Maybe we could even stop for a late dinner if you're so inclined (my treat of course).

    </a>
										<div>Okay I know this is a last minute plea, but Aaron and I are looking for a ride to Half Moon Bay's Great Pumpkin Festival on Saturday.( http://www.miramarevents.com/pumpkinfest/ ) The Slimster's bike is incapacitated, so now the trip I was looking forward to since last year, is looking dodgy. :(

Why, you ask, should one want to accompany us to such an event??

Well besides the opportunity to hang out with myself and Aaron (and play "Spot the Nifer Amongst the Pumpkins" aka, S.N.A.P.)...... you will see a Pumpkin Costume Contest, a Great Pumpkin Parade, Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest, and everything PUMPKIN under the foggy sky!!!! Pumpkin ice cream? You bet! Pumpkin pancakes? Fuck yeah!

I totally want to get there in the morning (maybe catch breakfast at the event?), so I'm hoping someone out there would like to go in the morning as well, and we can carpool together.

Give me or Aa a call (or msg me) if you can hook us up, yo!

    </a>
										<div>Avast all yee wicked wenches, sexy swashbucklers, and lascivious landlubbers!

I want to thank each an every one of you for the incredible day last Sunday &amp; for coming out to celebrate my birthday with me. Nothing makes me happier than being surrounded by such creative, brilliantly talented, warm-hearted, intelligent, wildly imaginative friends. And of course, your overwhelming level of delicious piratey-HAWTNESS was swoon inducing!

I also want to express my appreciation to all the sexy-freaky-lovely lads and lasses that conspired to make this a sea-faring world we could all play in:
~Claudia, for her help in transporting the poop-load of piratey goods to &amp; fro locations, both before and during the event.
~Jenn Conspiracy, for hooking me up with volunteering at the SF Opera sale, so we all could party in style.
~Nina, for getting me to dark depths of Stow Lake, worry (and Muni) free.
~Jonathan, for both celebrating his birthday with me, and for all his help in securing the GROG! And for his help in securing me my very own .22 rifle&amp;hellip;'..WOW!!!!! SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
~April, for organizing all the yummy eats atop Strawberry Hill.
~Alleycat for making the freeze-dried ice cream cake that I&amp;rsquo;ve **always** wanted!
~To all the voyagers who braved the physical rigors of the day (scraped heads, soaked costumes, bumps and bruises, and torn toenails&amp;hellip;'&amp;hellip;')
~And of course, thank you to all who contributed to the fund for a new camera, to replace the one that was broke on my whaling voyage months ago. (yay, thank you, thank you!!!!!!)
~And to everyone else who pitched in to insure that the decks were swabbed, the grog got to the top of the hill, or otherwise participated in making this a seamless event. mwah!!!

Finally, a special thanks goes out to my dearest loves of my life, Colin and Aaron, for all of the passion, heart, and soul that they poured into this event. The amount of love and commitment that I receive from them both every day of my life, is evident in their overwhelming skill and cleverness in making this event one which I would truely revel in. It reminds me, once again, that I am the luckiest gal ever! &amp;lt;3

I love all of you who make up this mosaic of Madness and Art, which I call my community!
XOXO,

It should be breathtaking....

And, of course, there will be communing following the official event-- like early morning breakfast on the playa, swimming at a nearby lake, festivities Saturday evening, and more for which I can not predict... yay, happy, yay.</div>

										<div>So is anyone heading to the playa this weekend for Burning Bush/4th of Juplaya/Whatever?

Both Colin and I are looking for a ride there, however if you only have room for one, then we are perfectly willing to go separately. Also, I know beggars can't be choosers, but I/we hope to leave on Friday afternoon, and not leave our beloved playa home until Tuesday morning.

So whatcha say, got wheels, will travel? Oh, and as an extra incentive to you, not only would I/we split the costs of gas, but I will heartily sing patriotic songs for you allllll the way there!! (or not!!!!) :D
