If I walk down this hallway, tonight,
It's too quiet,
So I pad through the dark
and call you on the phone
Push your old numbers
and let your house ring
til I wake you ghost.
Let him walk down your hallway
it's not this quiet
slide down your receiver
sprint across the wire
follow my number
slide into my hand.
It's the blaze across my nightgown
it's the phone's ring.
I think last night
you were driving circles around me.
I can't drink this coffee
til I put you in my closet
let him shoot me down
let him call me off
I take it from his whisper
you're not that tough.
You were in my dream.
You were driving circles around me.
Tiny valium
Softly tips my bare-wire nerves
Sort of like duct tape

I fell from the side of a semi today. Not sure if you've ever climbed up to the door of one, but the doors are six feet up. It requires three steps to get all the way up, and stepping down, I forgot about the other two. So basically, a six-foot drop.
It was a cool feeling, AT FIRST. Even though I've been away from it for seven years, the years and years of aikido training I once did taught me, if nothing else, how to fall. Without thinking about it, I tucked my chin, held my arms close in...

When I was younger, and constantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown, I used to consider all the things I'd have to get done before checking myself into the funny farm: stop newspaper and mail delivery, cancel utilities, notify relatives, find home for pets, clean house etc. In the end, staying sane seemed by far the least exhausting option.
So it is that, given six months paid time to spend as I please, as long as I justify it as research, and given that I plan on spending it by sheddi...

Shannon's the tits. She's not just a breath of fresh air, she's a breath of sub-arctic chill. She won't just knock your sox off, she'll strip your skivvies, too.
Pay tribute to this Caustic Female Extaordinaire--to her crystalline mind, and her soft derrière.
Pucker Up!

It was a short passionate relationship....a summer that I'll never forget, for sure. It was '71. We met on a nude beach in Jamaica and connected immediately. It was a summer of passion, smoking things, drinking things, discovery and wild abandon. Sadly, it ended too quickly..... She went on to Haight Ashbury and higher education and I went on to become a musician and world-class corporate slave. Nice to think about the good old days though. Yeah. That summer between 3rd and 4th grade was the best ever.

Repeatedly, she slays me - her words sharp, her heart full, her giggles delicious. She is Shannon, knowledge-hungry, well-traveled, a righteous soldier who never ever takes it too seriously. She is one of the few for whom I would drop about half of my life just to help get a novel of her writing published.

How many people do you know who are former members of a Bavarian Illuminati motorcycle gang, have bitten a mime and lived to tell the tale, and actually know how to spell quonset hut????
none 'cept one i say !!!
.....and if you don't know her, you should...
...and if you don't want to, why then more for me i say!!!
Shannon kicks ass, yet maintains the highest level of literary integrity.

I've known Shannon for years, though we were out of touch for a while until Tribe. Shannon is as intelligent, articulate, and witty a woman as you're likely to meet. She is a true mensch, someone I am honored to know. She is great at everything she turns her attention to. I happen to know which deity is actually embodied in Shannon, but I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to discover which one.
