We've not yet met in person, but I know I could pick Mike out in a crowd just by honing in on that fun and good energy he exudes. It is evident in his art as well. He's one of those people who WOWS you from the get go. May all the naturally good energy you give off circle back around and replenish your soul tenfold.

about me
Free-spirited gay artist FINALLY able to do it full time. Sometimes called "Goat" by my friends. Lighthearated. Pass for many years younger. (...and beginning to question why that's really important.) I enjoy a spiritual connection to things that's currently described as somewhat neo-pagan. I believe that sex is a celebration and not a competition. (Body Electric Grad)
I'm in love with the Southwest. In 1995, I visited Santa Fe after another local Atlanta artist said "It will change your mind about color." Well it changed more than that. Much of my subject matter has completely changed since that trip and later visits to Sedona. Even after growing up on the Florida coast, I've NEVER seen skies like those in the West. When I paint them, they're hard to exaggerate. The mix of cultures--Hispanic and Native American--and their way with colorful, spiritual artistic expression will continue to inspire me. I'm very much a city boy and not a big country-western music fan though. Or at least not until I've had two beers, and then I want to be a star. I learned that when a former partner (and now best friend) had me take two-step lessons and danced at an Atlanta C&W bar. (For those that are guessing initials in that context, like S&M, B&D, GWM, etc. it's just "Country and Western.) I have been known to twang a serious rendition of "Honky Tonk Angel" in the shower.
I still have Portugal, Greece, South Africa and Spain to paint, but most of the time the brushes demand that it be something Southwestern.
Change of subject: Brand-name status items? I don't get it. I'd rather see those Calvins on the floor.
Two of my favorite quotations:
"Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly." --G.K. Chesterton. I found myself growing tired of being angry about so much. Reading this quote changed my life (whether I believe in traditional angels or not).
"A lifetime of disco is too high a price to pay for my sexuality." --Quentin Crisp
Poke around my website. Enjoy the art.

Inspired by the retablos, or altar panels, I saw out west in the small churches in New Mexico.
"Fiesta Dress," one of my Southwest inspired paintings, from Santa Fe. Saw it in the window and just had to paint it (using some of my photos from AZ and NM). It has just sold to two women that have a Texas bedroom. I'm excited for me and them.
(My recent painting)
Step right up folks, and see Little Egypt do the famous "Dance of the Pyramids." She walks! She talks! She Crawwwwwwwls on her belly like a reptile! Only one thin dime, one TENTH of a dollah....
LITTLE EGYPT
I went and bought myself a ticket and
I sat down in the very first row, wo wo.
They pulled the curtain but then when
they turned the spotlight way down low, wo wo,
little Egypt came out struttin',
wearing nouthin' but a button and a bow, wo wo,
singing,...

Tribe has had it's ups and downs, and I've been living with that without too much complaint for years. For days, nearly every new window has to be tried and re-tried to get it open. Patience. But now for the last several days, my individual tribes' messages appear to be stuck in time. No matter how many new messages show up, they don't appear on my home page, nor on the individual tribe's home page. The same messages have the same "new message" asterisk, and when you check on it, no new comme...

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm no prude by a long shot, but there's one area where I draw a line. In the last few months I've reported a couple of tribe members whose profile galleries have photos of obviously under-age nude or barely-clothed boys. One wrote me with a friend request. I told him that I didn't want association with anyone who had that interest and promptly reported him to tribe.
Today, I was at another profile and the man's friends list showed several other thumbnails o...

...well then I'll just have to shoot them.
This relatively new pursuit of full-time fine art is proceeding in magical ways. Three years ago, I entered my first ever juried show. The Artists Guild of Northwest Georgia (AGNWG) is an active organization with many extremely talented artists. They're also in a wealthier part of the state and many of the members are active participants in the goings-on at the Booth Western Art Museum. It naturally seemed like the best first place to enter my ar...

I wondered if Santa Fe and northern New Mexico could be any more breathtaking than the first trip I made out there 16 years ago. YES!!!! I've just returned from my second visit.
Visiting the Abiquiu home of Georgia O'Keeffe felt like a pilgrimage to a holy place. And after the docent who led the tour of this sparsely decorated but beautiful old clifftop adobe home, pointed out O'Keeffe's "the white place" on the horizon, we had to go there. This photo was our reward. I'll post a few more i...
